Network Video Conferences
Network videoconferencing is a tool for communicating via audio, video, and data in real time. The user can see as well as hear the individual or members of the group at the other end. Other factors contributing to the growing interest in videoconferencing include better compression techniques, maturing standards that encourage interoperability, high-speed LANs and WANs that support the data requirements of video and high-performance multimedia computers. In addition, operating systems are multimedia enabled. Microsoft Windows includes a videoconferencing package called NetMeeting. The Java Media Framework API (JMF) specifies a simple, unified architecture to synchronize and control audio, video and other time-based data within Java applications and applets. The JMF API (the Java Media Player API) enables programmers to develop Java programs that presented time-based media. The JMF API also extends the framework to provide support for capturing and storing media data, controlling the type of processing that is performed during playback, and performing custom processing on media data streams. In addition, JMF defines a plug-in API that enables advanced developers and technology providers to more easily customize and extend JMF functionality. It supports media capture and addresses the needs of application developers who want additional control over media processing and rendering. It also provides a plug-in architecture that provides direct access to media data and enables JMF to be more easily customized and extended. The following are the functional requirements identified for the proposed system. Server The server has to be the interface through which the service provider initiates services. It should process client request and allocate a new service to each client. Server Service The Server Service is the process, which handles each client. For each client connecting to the system an instance of Server Service is available. It is also the process, which maintains the list of client addresses, which are connected to the server. When clients disconnects their information is automatically removed from the table. The Server Service is one of the end points in the communication with the client. It also has a live instance of Database connection from which it request and retrieves results regarding a users request. Server Settings This functionality helps the server to keep information about the port to which it has to listen and queue size, i.e. The number of concurrent client connections the server can manage. Log In To start serving, the server module has to be started, and when new clients are available it has to be updated in the database. Server service can be done by administrator or user, but only administrator has the privilege to administrate the database. Database Administration The Administrator can log in and update the database with new clients. Administrator has to select a client, insert the entry, and update the database. When the database updated the selected client will be copied to the default directory of the server. Message Broadcasting There may be situations in which the server service has to be stopped. In such a condition instead of quitting unconditionally server broadcast messages to all connected clients that it is going to shut down so terminate client processes. For this purpose message broadcasting is done. The received broadcast message will be automatically displayed in the client part. Client The client is the interface through which the user could send and receive information to and from the server. Client Settings In the client settings we maintain the information regarding the Servers address and port to which the client should try to connect. Video conferencing In video conferencing audio and video data are transmitted and received to enable communication.
Web Filter
The project entitled Web Filter having two parts. The first part is aimed at filtering the images, animated gifs and advertisements from a web page while receiving it through the web browser. The second part contain intrusion detection The system not only detects the intruders by the IP address, it detects the system with its contents also. The system checks the already registered intruders. If found intruding, they are forwarded to the firewall for blocking .The firewall is responsible for the blocking of the packets. The Remote Monitor
Any computer based system that manages sensitive information in a local area network can be improperly harmed by individuals. The Remote Monitor offers a level of security to a local area network the system provides the information regarding all logged-in users to the administrator. If a system failure occurs, then the administrator can trace the last user who logged-in. The Remote Monitor can also keeps the accounting information, like login time, logout time, duration of usage etc ,of all users. The package consists of two applications. One is in the server machine and the other in the client machine. The server application keeps the details of all clients and monitors the active users. The server can send necessary messages to appropriate clients instantly. It also provides necessary information to the administrator that he needs to know. It is simply meant for security in a local network. The client application automatically starts running when the client machine starts. It gets the user details and combines this with system details and send to the server without user knowledge. The Remote Monitor system has the capability to monitor multiple clients in a network. The system should provide the details of all logged in clients to the administrator. Hence it provides more security in a local network. The administrator can send necessary information to the clients instantly. MPEG to JPEG Converter
The case study titled MPEG to JPEG Converter is software developed in Java on the Windows platform. This software is used to search the necessary video clips from an MPEG file depending upon the users input. It converts a media file to JPEG frames. The user can select the required starting and ending frames from the media file being played and save them to a directory. The details associated with the starting and ending frames are accepted from the user and stored in the database. In response to the search request of the user the related video clips will be retrieved and the user can view and save the desired cli from the search results. The media file is processed and played using JMF player. JMF stands for Java Media Frame work which is Sun initiative to bring time-based media processing to Java. Time-based media is data that changes meaningfully with respect to time, such as audio and video clips and animations. This software is designed to be user friendly. MS access is the used as the back end. The software should have the facility to: o Select an MPEG file. o Save the selected MPEG file in a directory o Convert the MPEG video to JPEG frames. o Save the selected starting and ending frames in a directory. o Store the details of the selected starting and ending frames in the database. o Accept the description of the video clips to search. o Display the search results in a table. o View the desired clips selected from the table. o Save the desired clips.
E-Greetings
E-greetings is a website where a user chooses from an on-line catalog of e-cards made available on the web site. After selecting a card, the sender can personalize it to various degrees by adding a message, photo, or video. Finally the sender specifies the recipient's e-mail address and the web site delivers an e-mail message on behalf of the sender to the recipient. An e-card is similar to a postcard or greeting card; with the primary difference being it is created using digital media instead of paper or other traditional materials. E-cards are digital "content", which makes them much more versatile than traditional greeting cards. For example unlike traditional greetings, e-cards can be easily sent to many people at once or extensively personalized by the sender. Conceivably they could be saved to any computer or electronic device or even viewed on a television set; however E-card digital content has not yet progressed as far as digital video or digital audio in terms of varied usage. E-cards can send on the following occasions Anniversaries: happy birthday, wedding anniversary Holidays: generic or specific holiday � merry Christmas, happy New Year, Hanukkah, etc. Life events: congratulations on graduation, baby shower, wedding Sympathy: get well, condolences for loss of loved one Personal sentiments: thank you, I'm sorry, thinking of you, friendship, and love Existing System The existing system is sending standard greeting cards by postal method. A standard greeting card is printed on high-quality paper (such as card stock), and is rectangular and folded, with a picture or decorative motif on the front. Inside is a preprinted message appropriate to the occasion, along with a blank space for the sender to add a signature or handwritten message. A matching envelope is sold with the card. Some cards and envelopes feature fancy materials, such as gold leaf, ribbons or glitter. Normally the standard greeting cards are expensive and need to buy individual copies to each recipient. Proposed System The proposed system is a greeting website which contains E-cards that suitable for almost all occasions. The user can select from the variety of cards and can send them to the recipient by email. The e-mail received by the recipient contains not the e-card itself, but an individually coded link back to the publisher's web site that displays sender's card exactly as it was originally configured. Type of E-cards Postcards "Postcards" use static (non-moving) images. These were the first type of e-card in use. The recipient sees a single artistic image, accompanied by a personalized greeting message. Flash animation This type of e-card is based on two-dimensional vector animation controlled with a scripting language. The format is proprietary to Adobe, however, widespread usage of Adobe's software allows this type of card to be easily viewed on most of today's computers. The recipient sees an animated short usually 15-30 seconds in duration. The animation often appears to have a cartoon style due to the nature of the content; however, some Flash creations can be quite sophisticated and realistic. A sound track usually accompanies the animation which may contain speech or music. Flash animated greeting cards can include interactivity, for example, asking the viewer to choose a picture to animate, however, most Flash e-cards are designed to convey the sentiment of the sender through simple observation.

Graphical user interfaces are so called because we use mouse to point at graphical objects such as windows, menus, icons, buttons and other tools on the screen these graphical tools all represent different types of commands the GUI enables us to issue commands to the computer by using visual objects instead of typing commands this is one of the key advantage of the Graphical User Interface it frees us from memorizing and typing text commands SCOPE OF THE PROJECT The scope of the project lies in creating an interface in JAVA for a GUI tool and main objective of the project is to develop a GUI tool for Oracle installation We use three concepts of Java they are SWINGS, JDBC, AWT�s and also an interface Oracle (SQL PLUS). A GUI tool would be the best thing to implement as it is more users friendly and must to people who have used a computer have used a GUI in some form or other wise most will not have used a command line interface. EXISTING SYSTEM � In this we use SQL PLUS as a tool provided by the Oracle for data base installation � Since it provides the user full access to the database ,it is a command line interface � Using SQL PLUS tool we can access through a terminal window on a Unix / Linux machine or a telnet window on a PC with in the organization. � So people who are not having any computer knowledge it is a difficult task to learn and use it PROPOSED SYSTEM � In this we provide a GUI tool for Oracle installation � This GUI tool is more user friendly compared to SQL PLUS � Using this GUI tool the user can easily access the tables with in their data base and create, edit or delete data or tables themselves with in their own database � So it is easier to adapt GUI tool for accessing the database rather than command line interface. MODULE DESCRIPTION There is only one module in this application Administrator and user. The user is prompted for a username and password. Once these are entered the user is able to access the tables within their database, and create, edit or delete data or tables themselves with in their database. The Administrator do not allow the users to access the other databases or to any of the functions used to administer the database it self. USERS 1. USER 2. ADMINISTRATOR PRODUCT FEATURES SQL PLUS tool can be accessed through a telnet window on a PC within the organization. The method of connecting is a command typed in by the user and then prompted for a username and password. Once these are entered the user is able to access the tables within their database and can create, edit , or delete data or tables themselves, with in their own database. The permissions for users to access the database are provided by Administrator who checks the database, modifies etc.

SDH Network Alarm Monitoring System
The purpose of this project is to help the organization TATA COMMUNICATIONS, KAKKANAD, to make the transmission of signals through their network more efficient by proper error detection. Signals are transmitted with the help of devices known as mugs (multiplexer de-multiplexer). These devices are equipped with special error detecting mechanism & thus they detect errors. But these errors are to be reported to a server so that they would be corrected for efficient transmission. The project contains following modules: Login Module : This helps the admin to enter into the required page by checking the user name and password. 2. Error Diagnosis Module: It consists of 3 modules :- a. Error Detection With the help of specially implemented error detecting mechanism the equipments participating in transmission Detects errors during transmission B. Error Classification Errors detected by the equipments are classified depending upon their nature as Critical Errors Major Errors Minor Errors Critical errors are those which are to be rectified at the moment they are detected so that transmission is not interrupted Major errors are of second priority and will not cause much inconvenience for transmission. Error Reporting Reports all the above mentioned errors to a server with the help of a suitable window and an alarm.Th window properties and alarm settings vary with the type of errors. Eg: - critical errors which are to be rectified instantly are reported using special window along with sharp alarm.
ACCESS CONTROL MONITORING SYSTEM
The purpose of this project is to enhance the existing security mechanism in TATA COMMUNICATION(VSNL) with the help of access cards. Each employee of their organization is provided with an access card, which contain unique codes on it. The codes are read with the help of the card reader and informations are stored in the data base. This project helps the organization to provide access to employees, to calculate attendance and salary etc. The project contain following modules Login Module: Creating the mousers providing user name and password. Checking the username and password given by admin.user if it is correctly entered then login the home page. Access Module: Information reflected from the card reader is stored in a data base, which is checked for permitting or denying the access. Attendance Calculation Module: Calculating the attendance of employees using the information in the data base.
